5 Fresh Ideas From The Garden

I love to garden. Growing fresh fruit and vegetables for my family is very important to me. Few things compare to tomatoes picked from the vine, or juicy little homegrown mandarin oranges, mmmm~!
You don't need a big yard, or even any yard to successfully garden. Previous condo living in Los Angeles taught me to effectively grow lots of produce right on my patios and balconies. One such "garden" consisted of a super sunny 8' x 3' balcony on the third floor of the condo. We managed to grow several robust tomato plants, along with peppers, and many herbs. It was the true beginning of my green thumb.

Here are five of my favorite things to make with our garden bounty:
This colorful salsa is so delicious you may find it impossible to stop eating, so why try? Heap some on the garden fresh fajitas and enjoy.
I'm big a fan of stuffed bell peppers and the cheesy filing in these hits the spot every time. Even kids request them for dinner!
One of my favorite stews is this fantastic combination of seafood swimming in a fresh tomato base. You can purchase a terrific seafood mix in 2 lb. bags at Costco. Chuck full of tender bay scallops, shrimp, clams, and calamari rings it's perfect for this recipe.
And last but never least is an incredibly basic but wonderful red sauce. It's just right to toss with pasta on a warm summer evening for a simple meal.
