Homemade Sangria

I love sangria, both the red & the white versions. This recipe is very simple and is always a huge hit at our parties and BBQ's.
You can prepare it in advance and it actually tastes better when the fruit flavors have had a chance to combine.
See for yourself, it's the ideal summer beverage!

8 servings

2 oranges
2 lemons
2 limes
8 cups dry white wine
3 Tablespoons honey
1 cinnamon stick or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup halved, seedless grapes
1 cups sliced, hulled strawberries
1 quart Ginger Ale
Ice cubes

Cut 1 orange, 1 lemon and 1 lime in half. Slice one half of each for garnish. Wrap and refrigerate. Squeeze juice from remaining oranges, lemons, and limes. Combine juices, wine, honey, cinnamon, grapes and berries in a large glass pitcher or bowl. Cover and chill at least 1 hour. Just before serving gently stir in ginger ale. Add reserved fruit slices. Ladle over ice in glasses.

*You can double or triple this recipe easily. It will store covered, and refrigerated for 48 hrs. I think it sometimes tastes even better and richer the next day. I make leftovers on purpose whenever possible.

This sangria tastes on a whole new flavor using your favorite red wine and doubling the honey--everything else stays the same. Delicious either way. Try BOTH!
