Whipped Cream--How to Make it Yourself

Cool Whip, Shmoolwhip--I love real whipped cream. Once you've had it, you're a goner. You'll make it yourself every time. It's so easy, why not? Look, here's how you do it.

If time permits, chill stainless steel bowl and electric mixer beaters for at least 30 minutes.
Place 1 cup cold heavy cream into chilled bowl.
Add 2 Tablespoons powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Using a hand-held mixer, on high speed, whip the cream until it forms soft peaks.
Cover and chill until ready to serve--up to 8 hours. If it separates during refrigeration, whip it again until it thickens.
