Something Different--Chocolate Covered Bacon

This is an odd sounding combination, but I can swear to you, a very delicious one. Taste of Home insired me here as I am always looking for new and interesting, unheard-of recipes for my holiday parties, and this one certainly filled the bill.
It's easy to prepare ahead of time and well received by everyone.
Take a look ~

1 lb. thick sliced bacon

12 wooden skewers

1 (4 oz.) bar good quality chocolate

Thread one slice on to a skewer, ribboning slightly (wavy)

Repeat with all slices.

Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and bake ribbons for 20 minutes at 400 degrees. If not crisp looking add 2 minutes at a time and check after each until bacon appears crisp.

Drain on paper towels.
Meanwhile melt chocolate in a double boiler. When smooth, using a pastry brush, paint bacon slices until coated.

Let set for at least 20 minutes. Loosely cover coated bacon and chill until serving (up to 24 hrs.)
