Mine start with a can of Campbell's French Onion soup and go together in a snap. Serve this with mashed potatoes or buttery egg noodles and everyone will be happy.
See for yourself~

1 large egg
1 can CAMPBELL'S condensed French Onion soup, undiluted, divided
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/4 teaspoon salt
pinch of pepper
1-1/2 pounds lean ground beef
4 oz. fresh mushrooms, sliced (optional, but I love them in this recipe!)
1 Tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon Johnny's Au Jus sauce or Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon prepared mustard
6 cups hot cooked wide egg noodles or 6 cups mashed potatoes
In a large bowl, beat egg. Stir in 1/3 cup of soup, bread crumbs, salt & pepper.
Add beef; mix gently.
Shape into 4 - 6 oval patties.
Brown patties in a skillet over medium heat for 3~4 minutes on each side. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Saute mushrooms for about 4 or 5 minutes--remove from skillet and set aside with patties. Discard drippings.
In same skillet combine flour & water until smooth. Add the ketchup, sauce, mustard and remaining soup. Bring to a boil. Cook & stir for 2 minutes. Return patties & mushrooms to skillet. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Serve patties & gravy over noodles or mashed potatoes.
